Abstracts & Posters

We invite researchers, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to submit their work on high-support autism and other medically complex neurodevelopmental conditions. All accepted abstracts will be presented as e-posters in the virtual Poster Hall.

Key dates

  1. Abstract submission opens
  2. Abstract submission deadline23:59 CET. No extensions will be granted.
  3. Notification of acceptanceYou will receive the committee's decision by email. All accepted abstracts are presented as e-posters.
  4. E-poster submission deadline23:59 CET. Also the deadline for presenting authors to claim their free ticket.
  5. AMRS 2027, online metaverse congress

The e-poster window is short. There are about six weeks between notification and the poster deadline. We recommend preparing your figures and results while you wait for the decision, so your poster is ready in time.

Topics

The AMRS 2027 programme is organised into 14 thematic modules. When you submit your abstract, you will choose the module that best fits your work, and posters can be filtered by module in the virtual Poster Hall.

M1Defining and stratifying
Definitions, support levels, biological subgroups and assessment of non-speaking people.
M2Clinical complexity and hidden drivers
Behaviour as a medical symptom: pain, sleep, GI, ENT; medication and deprescribing.
M3Behaviour, crisis and regression
Regression, catatonia, self-injury and severe behavioural crises.
M4Neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation
Neuroimmune dysfunction, mast cells and the blood–brain barrier.
M5Autoimmunity, encephalitis and PANS/PANDAS
Autoimmune and post-infectious mechanisms, and differential diagnosis of regression.
M6Genetics and epigenetics
Syndromic and monogenic forms, CNVs, reanalysis and actionable findings.
M7Metabolism, mitochondria and energy
Brain energy metabolism, mitochondrial dysfunction and treatable metabolic disorders.
M8Gut–brain axis and microbiome
Microbiome, metabolomics, GI health and nutrition.
M9Biomarkers and multi-omics
Omics, EEG and other biomarkers, especially those actionable today.
M10Therapeutics and clinical trials
Clinical trials, mechanism-based and immunomodulatory therapies.
M11Epilepsy and neurology
Epilepsy and other neurological comorbidities.
M12AI in severe autism
Digital phenotyping, wearables, data integration and decision support.
M13Precision medicine and care models
Lifelong clinical pathways, transition and multidisciplinary care.
M14Lived experience and families
Participatory research and priorities set with families and autistic people.

Emerging or contested therapies. We welcome work on topics such as photobiomodulation, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), immunomodulatory therapies, nutraceuticals, biomarker-guided treatment or hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Submissions must clearly describe the study design, limitations and adverse events, avoid promotional language and declare any commercial ties. Abstracts whose purpose is to promote a product, service, clinic or therapy will be declined, and clinics, products or commercial protocols may not be named in the title.

Preparing your abstract

Abstracts must be submitted through the form below. Submissions by email will not be accepted.

Type of workOriginal research, case reports or case series, systematic reviews, protocols of ongoing trials and participatory research with families
Thematic moduleChoose one of the 14 modules (M1 to M14). The Scientific Committee may reassign it if it fits better elsewhere.

Requirements

  • The work must be original. Work presented at other meetings is accepted if it has not been published as a full article.
  • Studies involving people must name the approving ethics committee and protocol number, or explain why approval was not required.
  • Case reports and case series require documented consent from the person or their legal representative.
  • Abstracts and posters must not contain identifiable data, such as names, initials, dates of birth, record numbers or unmasked faces.
  • All funding sources and conflicts of interest must be declared.
  • Use of generative AI tools must be declared, stating what they were used for. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
  • You may submit up to three abstracts, but each person can present only one poster. If more than one of your abstracts is accepted, a co-author must present the others.
  • The presenting author of each accepted poster will receive a free ticket to the congress, which must be claimed by 28 February 2027. Posters without a registered presenting author will be withdrawn.
  • You can edit your abstract until the deadline on 31 December 2026.

Review process

Each abstract is reviewed anonymously by at least two independent reviewers from the Scientific Committee, who assess scientific quality, originality, clarity and relevance to high-support autism. For work on therapies, it also assesses how rigorously limitations and safety are reported.

All accepted abstracts are presented as e-posters in the virtual Poster Hall, where authors can stand by their poster as an avatar and discuss their work with attendees.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the congress abstract book under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence. Authors keep the copyright of their work. Best Poster Awards will be selected by the Scientific Committee and presented at the Closing Ceremony on 7 March.

Preparing your e-poster

Posters are displayed in the Poster Hall, an interactive space in the metaverse. Presenting authors must be present in the Poster Hall with their avatar during the times agreed with the organisers, to discuss their poster live with visitors.

PosterSingle-page PDF, landscape, 16:9 ratio (for example, 1920 × 1080 px), maximum 10 MB

Looking for collaborators (optional)You can tag your poster as looking for collaborators if you want to find partners to take the project further.

Content

  • The poster must match the accepted abstract. It may include more recent data.
  • Include the title, authors, affiliations, institutional logos and a contact email.
  • Favour clear figures and charts over long blocks of text.
  • Add key references and the conflict of interest statement.

28 February 2027 is a firm deadline. Posters not received on time cannot be included in the programme.

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit more than one abstract?

Yes, up to three. Each abstract is submitted separately through the form, but each person can present only one poster.

Do I need to be online during the congress?

Yes. You must be present in the Poster Hall with your avatar during the times agreed with the organisers. Live sessions take place in the afternoon, CET. All you need is a web browser, with no installation or VR headset required. We will send you the schedule in advance.

Can I present work on a contested therapy?

Yes. Present the data rigorously: study design, limitations, adverse events and conflicts of interest. Submissions with a promotional tone will not be accepted.

Can I change the presenting author?

Yes. Email us before 28 February 2027 with the abstract number and the name of the new presenting author.
